Brochure Design

I love being able to combine my illustration and design skills, which made this project one of my favorites during my time at The School of Advertising Art. We each drew a random name of a company and had to create a brochure for them. I have a deep love and respect for Japanese culture and art, so you can imagine how excited I was to pick Kyoto Sights & Nights! Kyoto Sights & Nights is a tourist destination spot where you go to experience ancient Japanese culture.

My favorite medium to work in is watercolor and ink. Because Kyoto Sights & Nights prides themselves on being authentic, I decided to create illustrations inspired by Sumi-e ink paintings on a textured paper. This resulted in a very unique look that truly embodied the ancient Japanese aesthetic but still felt current with the layout design and graphic elements I incorporated.
